KIDS JOIN IN THE RACING ACTION AT JRP SPEEDWAY!!

Here at JRP Speedway in West Tulsa, we have began a FWD Novice class for young drivers who don't have much or any driving experience.

Rocky Welch, of Glenpool has dominated the class thus far winning every event.  Saturday night he won his 4th feature of the season. Even though there weren't many cars, these three youngsters put on an exciting race!

Last season's can am student, Dylan Harden debuted in his fwd novice car. Started at the rear and took a little while to catch up. He passed second place Heather Ford on lap4 to set his sights on little Rocky. He passed Rocky with one lop to go, got a little too excited and Rocky slid under him, the duo hit each other, Harden lost control and the lead for Rocky  to capture the checkered flag. Harden finished second, Heather came in 3rd.

Also for the youngsters  is the Can-Am school division. Jacob Ford captured his first win of the season. 6 year old Jacob Ford led from start to finish to take the top honors. #5 Alexis Holleyman, for the third race in arow took the second spot. Grant Gibson piloting the #00 machine, took third. Points leader and last season's champion Colby Anderson starting at the rear of the pack, finished fourth. #24 Gavin Moore started fifth and finished fifth. Youngster, Victor Holleyman, driving a back up car finished in the sixth spot, followed by Keith Pleasant and Jeffrey Few. #16 Douglas Buchan was unable to start the feature.

The Mini Stock feature was an exciting one, with some drivers trying to drive on the wall instead of the track!  Herb “Cornfed” Adkins, captured his first victory of the season. The #00 led from start to finish, putting several drivers laps down.  Visiting Creek County Driver Michael Tyre, starting near the rear of the field finished in the second spot. Shawn Hopkins substituting for his brother Matt, came in third. During a 4 car pile up in turn two, #11 racer, Phillip Cook, decided to go high to avoid the crash and actually drover on top of the wall , on the other side of the crash, and continued to finish the race in the fourth position.  He was followed by Jimmy Masterson, Orby Boyce, and Evan Smith.  Lee Passmore was unable to start due to a blown engine during the heat race.  The Pro – 4's in the race was won by Brett Fuller, second week in a row, Grumpy Tyre and Billy cook.

In the Dwarf division, points leader, Kevin Brewer of Owasso, passed early leader Rick Quinn on lap 9 to take home another checkered flag! This race got off to a rough start, when the #50 of Kelly Brewer backed into turn two wall on the first lap, ruining his race for the night.  Also Alex Bachtell driving the #25 dwarf car, left the track on lap 4, due to mechanical failure.

Rick Quinn in the #01 car, finished second, Mike Evans of Kellyville came in third, Tyler Bachtell took fourth, and David Cummins rounded out the top five.

Eric Frakes took home his fourth win of the season in the FWD division race here Saturday night. Early in the race, #76 Slim Burklin in his new purple car, spun twice and was sent to the pits early. Lap seven, we had a five car pile up in turn two involving points leader, Lea Welch, Adrien Hickman, Scott Walker and Tony Vierheller.
