SAMS SNATCHES SUPER TRUCK VICTORY
Brad
Sams snatched the lead away from Ryan Hicks on lap 45 to win
the first Super Truck feature race here at JRP Speedway
Saturday night. Eight USST Super Trucks arrived here
Saturday for their first race of the season.
Ryan Hicks sat on the pole and held the lead for the
first three laps, until he was passed by the #7 Eric Caudell,
Caudell held the lead for next 12 laps, with Hicks taking
back the top spot, until on lap 45
#55 Brad Sams took the lead and never looked back.
Caudell fell back to the 5th spot. Third spot was
captured by Tony Springwater in the #34 truck. #22 Steve
Cooper improved his starting position by one spot finishing
fourth. Joe Formans # 23 took sixth. And youngster Brady
Demeree fighting an ill handling #88 took home the seventh
spot. #11 Garrett Murrell was unable to make the feature.
In the factory stock division the feature win was
taken away from Chris Ford for failing to pass tech
inspection after the race. The win then went to Jimmy Kirby
of Wagoner, driving the #2b Camero. Jimmy ran an excellent
race. #10 Tyler Lane of Muskogee moved up to take second ( a
career best). Third went to #06 of Dann Gray, after he left
the track on the eighteenth lap. Jeremy Allen, starting on
the pole led the feature to the 16th lap when his
car spun out and went up in flames Newcomers this week the
Perkins brothers Billy and Steve, had a little difficultly
with their new cars. Billy didn't make the feature, and
Steve retired to the pits on lap 14.
#99 hot rod of Ken Shadden broke on lap 3, finishing
his night early. The returning #55 Gregg Overstreet was
black flagged for rough driving.
The Dwarf feature went from green to checkered with
the #10 Kevin Brewer once again taking the checkered flag.
This makes 3 in a row for Kevin. Kevin's Dad Kelly sat on
the pole and the first lap, before being overtaken by the
#01 of Rick Quinn, Quinn held off Kevin for three laps,
before having to settle for second place. Alex Bachtell
starting in the fourth spot finished third. Kelly fell to
fourth, and the #2 of David Cummins rounded out the top
five.
Alec Keddrell took home the victory in the fwd class
leading from start to finish. Points leader Eric Frakes
drove his #14 to take the second spot. He again was followed
by Lea Welch of Glenpool, taking third. Multiple car owner,
Slim Burklin drove his #76 to fourth, and their daughter
Brittany Vierheller rounded out the top five.
In the novice division it was their son Rocky taking
the win the both the heat and feature over Seantell Goodman
and Heather Ford.
Once again we mixed the pro-4 class in with the mini
stocks making a field of eleven mighty minis to battle it
out. Little Brady Demeree stole the lead from James Savage
on the eighteenth lap to capture another checkered flag!
Savage fell to second. The 00 car of Herb Adkins starting in
the 5th position fought his way to take the third
spot, followed by the #98 Brett Fuller and the #11 of
Phillip Cook.
In the Pro division Larry McCoy took the win followed by
Grumpy Tyre and Billy Cook.
In the Mini Cup Future Stars action it was Tyler Roe
all the way! Winning both the feature and heat. Tyler led
the feature race from beginning to end to take home is first
win! He was followed by points leader Austin Fullerton in
the #2 car. Adrien Hickman came in third, Braden Huff
fourth, Tanner Phillips fifth, Caleb Huff sixth.
Austin Johnson was unable to start the feature.
The Baby Grand feature was an exiting one even though
they did not have a full field of cars. Chelsie Roe and
Chester McDonald battle hard for the top spot, until lap 14
when Chester flipped his car on the front stretch!
Our officials rolled him back over and feeling fine
he wanted to continue. He was able to hold on the the third
position. Chelsie once again took the victory. #5 Jody Moore
was black flagged for not stopping during a red light.
JRP held their 2008 spring graduation race for the
Can Am division which included: Jacob Ford, Jake Richardson,
Cole Herrman, Colin Ferguson, Dillon Potter, Michael McNatt,
Derian Hughes, Jeffrey Few and Mark Conroe.
They put on a great show!
In the returning
Can – Am class it was Colby Anderson taking the victory over
Alexis Holleyman and Grant Gibson.
Next race will be May 17th and it will be
Salvage Night. With area salvages kicking in some money for
the purses. Some of the employees will put on a race after
the show.
We
would like to thank Phil Sager and the employees of
Whirlpool for coming out and giving away some great prizes!
Hope to see you back soon.
See you at the
races!
